According to Vogue: 001 | 2025 Spring Trends, Plus Size Edition
Trends often trickle in as an afterthought into plus size options. "According to Vogue" is a new series where I help extract forward fashion thinking and translate ideas into plus size options.
In this 2025 spring trends report, Vogue shares a few inspiring trends that I will reimagine with plus size options. I used to refer to myself as a bit of a trend monster - which for me is not really about chasing trends as a way to create style but rather fun ways to infuse new ideals, often reworking things I already owned.
FEMININITY UNRAVELED
Vogue writes “Soft pastels brought romance and airiness to the runways, but the color palette didn’t feel overly feminine.” What I love about this is that it allows for a softness without being fussy. One of the biggest selling points to pieces I wear over and over again is ease. The ease of the fabric, feeling effortlessly put together and clothes that feel good on my body. Here’s what I found in plus!
SUMMERTIME PREP
I never think of myself as preppy but what’s funny is that so much of this vibe is always woven throughout my wardrobe. Classic with a twist is my general mantra and classic prep staples partner so well within unexpected pairings. Vogue identifies key pieces as “anything with a sailor stripe, buoyant cotton skirts and dresses, and wind-resistant jackets.” There are so many fantastic plus options!
SPRING OUTERWEAR STORIES
Vogue points out the carry over from the excitement of the last olympics and identified a “sporty sensibility” as it relates to outerwear. I’ll take that and go a step further in that I think a casual but style forward jacket pairs perfectly with just about everything. I’ve rounded up sporty options as well a few more slick options that dress up and down.
CHECKS AND BALANCES
Full disclosure here, this “trend” is hilarious to me because are we going to pretend gingham isn’t a summertime staple? It’s on a trend list just about every year with good reason. It’s so good. To freshen things up (much like the Vogue selections), I chose plus size options with unexpected silhouettes. Honorable mention to these check pants with the little tie accent, I bought them immediately.
CRAFTY MINIMALISM
“Texture, fringe, crochet", yes Vogue. Yes. This is easily my favorite from this edit. These are generally pieces I’ve had to “make work”, finding genourously cut or stretchy pieces in straight sizes. I’d like to keep a mix of price points in these stories, since so many of us shop differently. I could have gone with more “high end” options here but chose to keep things around under $100. If you’re a luxe girlie. Lmk.
There are a few more that I’m loving, let me know If you’d like a part 2 of this post or we can keep it pushing!
Love you, mean it!
